Follow these steps to hang your CMW mural smoothly. Work with a clean, dry, smooth wall and take your time aligning the first strip—everything else follows from that line.
Step 1 — Lay out your mural panels
Cut along the marked panel lines to separate strips. Place Strip 1 on the floor first, then Strip 2, and so on from left to right. Panel numbers sit at the top of each strip so the mural orients correctly.
- Keep panels in order—do not shuffle them.
- If you ordered more than one mural in one shipment, confirm labels before installing.
- Dry-fit the first two panels on the wall if you want a quick alignment check.
Step 2 — Prepare a plumb line and apply adhesive
The first strip must hang vertically. Mark the panel width from your starting corner, then draw a light plumb line with a level. That line is your guide for Strip 1.
For paste-the-wall / non-woven murals, roll or brush adhesive onto the wall, covering a bit more than the first panel width. Keep the coat smooth and even to avoid bubbles.
For peel-and-stick murals, skip paste. Peel the backing gradually as you hang—do not remove the entire liner at once.
Step 3 — Hang the first strip
Align the top of Strip 1 with the ceiling line and the side with your plumb mark. Press lightly at the top, confirm it is straight, then smooth downward with a soft wallpaper tool or felt squeegee.
- Work from the center outward to push out air.
- Wipe the tool clean so wet paste does not smear the print face.
- Trim the top and bottom edges after the panel is smooth, using a sharp blade and a straightedge.
Step 4 — Hang the next panels and match the design
Repeat the same process for each strip. Butt edges together carefully so the mural pattern continues without gaps or overlaps (unless your product notes specify a slight overlap). Match motifs across the seam before pressing firmly.
Step 5 — Trim openings and finish
Around doors, windows, switches, and slopes, press the paper into the edge, cut with a sharp blade, and peel away the excess. Wipe paste residue with a clean damp cloth. Step back and check seams under room light.
Installation tips
- Two people make tall panels much easier.
- Never stretch the material to force a match—lift and reposition.
- Keep the room at a normal indoor temperature; avoid hanging on damp or freshly painted walls (allow paint to cure fully).
- Store spare offcuts until you are happy with the finished wall.
